The Legislature is trying to undermine the PSC and keep us locked into expensive, dirty energy
Join us as we make calls EVERY WEDNESDAY to encourage House Leaders to protect Kentuckians from utility shut-offs and legislation that would limit the PSC's ability to make the smartest choices for our energy future by locking us into keeping dirty, expensive coal plants open.
Leave a message for HOUSE LEADERSHIP every Wednesday: Oppose HB 445 and Assign HB 180 to committee. 1-800-372-7181
Oppose HB 445
Another coal subsidy bill is on the move. HB 445 follows on the heels of a bill passed last year (SB4) that made it difficult for the Public Service Commission to approve retirements of uneconomic coal-fired power plants. HB 445 adds on to this legislation that interferes with PSC powers to protect consumers.
This new bill would make coal plant retirements even more difficult and require us to pay for operation and maintenance of aging coal plants beyond their useful life. Aside from subsidizing the dumping of dangerous pollutants and Greenhouse Gases into Kentucky air and water, propping up these plants that are uneconomic to run will raise our bills. This is not what we want to pay for.
